Take My Hand 2007
Variety was the spice of the second annual Alli’s Journey TAKE MY HAND concert in May 2007. While the inspiration and guiding spirit, Alli Shapiro Amar, was not physically there, her courageous presence was brought to life through rich musical performances, side-splitting comedy, moving poetry and poignant drama. Chart-topping folk troubadour, Matthew Barber, and whimsical chanteuse Lily Frost, impressed alongside a spiritually rich set from Kae Sun and Stone Fox. Musical Director David Warrack, along with cellist Andras Weber, whisked the Wexford Family Singers Choir through a jubilant tribute to Alli. This year’s event included a comedy sketch by Women Fully Clothed and stand-up by Ron James. Wexford’s Collegiate’s dance troupe performed a spirited routine, while theatre start Thom Allison, cabaret singer Nancy White, and tenor Mark Dubois let their pipes wax poetically.
This year’s proceeds went to support the Cell Therapy Program at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. This research, lead by Dr. Armand Keating, is innovative and remarkable, aiming to mimic our own immune system’s ability to destroy abnormal cells.
