These traits are inherent to every young adult battling cancer. Alli Shapiro, founder of Alli's journey embodied just that; courage and strength in her seven year fight with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and heart as she lived with this disease using humour, humility and belief as her strongest weapons. Alli was determined to move from a cancer fighter to a cancer survivor.
Unfortunately, Alli lost her battle.
Alli's Journey will live on, so that young adults with cancer will have a charity to call "home".

An Alli’s Journey success as Canadian talent shares an unforgettable evening of heartfelt sentiments and electrifying serenades!
“A BIG GREAT THANK YOU TO ALL VOLUNTEERS” who made our annual concert a huge success. We are so grateful for the great contributions of all of the artists and volunteers who made our fundraising concert TAKE MY HAND such a memorable event for our fifth year. Alli’s Journey, has successfully garnered fantastic ongoing support from the music community through their presence and gracious donations. The evening was a tremendous success, as the impressive line-up of home-grown bands beguiled the crowd with their sultry indie sensations. Along with performances by some of our favourite vocalists – Jully Black, Kelly Lee Evans, Aion Clarke and Florence K, the evening was unforgettable. The hard working volunteers sold dozens of “Alli-gators” - adorable plush toys, as well as Alli’s Journey beaded bracelets, and specially designed Alli’s Comfort Bags full of quality consumable products such as teas, water bottles, blankets and personal cosmetics.
With over 400 tickets sold, the Koerner Hall auditorium was a magical place with these amazing artists once again delivering unprecedented performances. As Jully Black lead the evening with her urban hits like Sweat of Your Brow from her latest album “The Black Book”. Kelly Lee Evans dazzled the audience with her soul-pop sounds from her newly released album “The Good Girl”; whereas Sophie Milman and Aion Clark conjured up their jazzy and soulful interludes. Blending a more synth-electro sound with an array of vocal harmonies, Ohbijou lured the crowds, while The Rural Alberta Advantage performed songs from their album “Hometowns.” Aion Clarke’s hot pop/soul and big band classics ignited the stage, as he performed with an entertaining ensemble in their suave big city suits. Dan Mangan engaged the crowd, as they sang along to his “Nice, Nice, Very Nice”, and Evening Hymns performed a piece from Jonas Bonnetta’s new album “Spirit Guides”. The surprise guest was the remarkable Florence K, who mixed her pop, Bossa Nova, Cuban, and Brazilian rhythms in a piano performance that was beyond mesmerizing.
Alongside the performances, Daniel Schneiderman, a cancer survivor spoke to us about his heartfelt journey with his profound and genuine words, addressing what it means to be a cancer survivor and how the Alli’s Journey organization brought him and others the hope and courage to battle and overcome his condition. Daniel continues to advocate for Alli’s Journey, a one-of-kind, distinct organization honouring Alli’s memory, which provides resources, education and support for young adults with cancer. No other organization to date has accomplished this much for this select group of cancer patients. Read the rest of this entry »
